I went to a Roller derby last night. They are called http://www.windycityrollers.com/.I can't remember the last time I had this much fun. It is a cross between campy (WWF) and athleticism. I wish I brought my camera with me. Roller derby originated in Chicago and used to be taken more seriously. Now they use sex appeal to sell tickets and prove they are real atheletes.They had names like "Anya Bach", "Sharon Needles" "Anita Bier", "Courtney Shove", "Betty Larceny", "Ivana Krushya". Something just came over me and I was shouting and carrying on. It was a blast!!!! I think I liked it so much cause I used to roller skate every weekend when I was young. These women also range in age till 45 years old. I think I finally found a sport I like (giggle). I am going next month and taking pictures this time. |

I used to love watching roller derby when I was a kid (home alone, late at night with nothing to do but tv). I didn't know they still had it goin' on. Cool. Too bad everything has to go "sex" though. As if the original credibility (of anything, actually) was completely lost without it :/
